Mitsubishi Ductless Mini-Split Replacement for Brookline Brownstone

The owners of this stunning Brownstone in the quaint neighborhood of Salisbury Road and Corey Farm in Brookline, MA, had an old ductless HVAC system that was beginning to fail. They had chosen a ductless solution years ago because it allowed them to keep the home’s integrity while providing a heating and cooling solution.

Traditional HVAC systems required extensive ductwork for transporting the treated air throughout the home, but the ductwork would be destructive to the home’s aesthetic. Additionally, the process of renovating the house and install the ducts would be lengthy.

Brownstone in Brookline, MA, upgrades ductless for Mitsubishi ductless system. Another option they had considered so many years ago was a popular solution for older homes: window AC units. Unfortunately, window ACs are noisy, inefficient, and costly to operate. Not to mention, the window units would block up the gorgeous windows in the home and take away from its beauty again. The homeowners knew that window air conditioners were not an option for their home.

Ultimately, the family had settled on a simple, ductless AC system that would be less invasive and offer the desired cooling relief. After many years of running faithfully, the ductless system was wearing out. The owners knew it was time to upgrade the system again, so they started searching for ductless contractors around Boston, MA.

After reading many customer reviews about N.E.T.R., Inc. and learning about our status and the #1 Mitsubishi Electric Elite Diamond Dealer in New England, they gave us a call.

The Problem: Brookline Brownstone’s dated ductless AC system was beginning to fail. The family knew they wanted a ductless system to uphold the integrity of their home.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc.’s status as the #1 Mitsubishi Electric Elite Diamond Dealer proved to be just what the family was looking for. We installed a three-zoned Mitsubishi ductless AC system to replace the old units.

The Design

Mitsubishi ductless for a Brownstone on Salisbury Road in Brookline, MA.Chip Moeckel was the project manager for this installation. He met with the family and toured the beautiful home to get an idea of where the new Indoor units would need to be installed.

After his initial visit, Chip put together a crew and designed a three-zoned ductless air conditioning system with heating options to replace the old units. The new ductless units would be installed in the kitchen, master bedroom, and the second-floor bedroom to offer cooling relief to the whole home.

Additionally, an outdoor condenser unit and heat pump would be installed outside the home on a concrete pad. The outdoor unit would be out of sight but easy to reach for maintenance and repairs.

The Installation

Example of an indoor Mitsubishi ductless AC installed in a living room. The family loved the design that Chip showed them, so the crew got to work right away. First, they had to remove all the old ductless air conditioners that were no longer working. After the units were taken out, they were able to install the New Mitsubishi Ductless HVAC System easily.

Each of the ductless indoor units were mounted on the walls where they would provide optimal airflow throughout the room without interfering with the room’s aesthetic. Thin piping was then run through the walls like electrical wire to connect the indoor Units to the outdoor condenser. This piping serves the same purpose as invasive ductwork on a typical system, without requiring massive renovations to the room.

The team also removed the old condenser and heat pump to install a state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Electric Ductless Heat Pump that will easily keep this Brownstone comfortable all year long.

The Benefits

Ductless AC unit installed on the wall of a home for Mitsubishi ductless HVAC system. The new Mitsubishi Ductless HVAC System immediately fixed this family’s heating and cooling problems. After installation, the crew showed the family how to operate the new units with the remotes, which allow them to set the temperature from their couch!

The new ductless system will be more energy-efficient than the previous system, allowing the family to save on their monthly energy bills even on the hottest days of the year. Additionally, each unit operates independently from the others. Now, the family can turn down the kitchen’s temperature while cooking but leave the master bedroom just right. Another benefit of the independent AC units is that they can turn off any air handlers if that room is not in use.

For example, if the second-floor bedroom is only used for guests, they won’t have to pay to keep it cooled when no one is visiting. Instead, they can save energy by turning off the unit and only cooling the room when company arrives!

Another reason this Mitsubishi system is an ideal option for this family is that each of the units doubles as high-efficiency heaters. Now, if their existing heating system is leaving the master bedroom chilly, they can use the Mitsubishi system to add a little warmth to the room.

This feature will allow the family to save on their heating costs in the winter and enjoy perfectly treated air all year long.
