Ductless Heating and Cooling in a Kitchen and Master Bedroom in Woburn

Colonial-style homes in our area were often built without ductwork, and they often use oil radiators of one sort or another for heat. This type of heating can work well for most people in the winter. However, in the summer, they must rely on window air conditioners to try to cut the heat and humidity. Living in a turn of the century house you get used to the ritual of dragging the heavy AC units out of the basement, lugging them up a couple of flights of stairs. Often, multiple people are needed to install the window ACs and make sure they don’t fall out of the window in the process. Also, the insulation must be installed appropriately, so you don’t waste money and energy!

In the fall, the whole painful process must be reversed and frequently took place just before another heat spell set in. It’s an incredibly labor-intensive process for air conditioning. Plus, only the rooms with AC units ever get entirely comfortable, and it’s no wonder that homeowners like ours in Woburn were looking for a better solution.

Woburn kitchen gets Mitsubishi ductless Hyper-Heating.

Problem: The kitchen in this home was never comfortable, and the upstairs bedroom never seemed cool enough in the summer. Besides, the cost of running the loud window AC units was expensive, and they were difficult to install, remove, and store.

Solution: Installed two Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating Ductless Units that will cool the kitchen and bedroom with the touch of a button, and provide additional heat, if needed in the winter.

Example of an indoor wall mounted ductless AC unit.

This family needed a comfort upgrade! Their colonial style home has oil heated baseboards for heat, but the home lacked ductwork. This situation left them to rely on window air conditioning units, and their home was uncomfortable for most of the warmer months of the year. The kitchen and bedroom never got the air circulation or cooling needed from the window air conditioning units, which were also causing expensive energy bills.

When they called us, we knew that we could help them eliminate the need for window air conditioners. Installing two wall-mounted ductless units, in the kitchen and bedroom, would provide lasting comfort with a reliable heating and air conditioning system. The wall ACs are mounted out of the way, and the family can use their windows to see outside, instead of looking at an ugly window AC for four to five months a year!

N.E.T.R., Inc. suggested that they install two Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating Ductless Unit. This solution involves one outdoor heat pump, and two indoor wall mounted ductless AC units. The ductless mini-split system is expandable so that this family can add additional indoor ductless ACs in the future. These ductless mini-split ACs can also act as supplemental heat in the winter, so they can take any extra chill out of a room with the remote control, whenever they want.

Best of all, this energy-efficient technology will be able to deliver maximum comfort at a much lower monthly energy cost, any month of the year! Our homeowners were able to save money with a rebate of $1,300 through the Mass Save program. Energy-efficient technology like this Mitsubishi Electric ductless Hyper-Heating system helps everyone, by reducing the overall energy use. Rebates are still available! If you are interested in this type of energy-efficient equipment, ask your N.E.T.R., Inc. heating and air conditioning specialist about what sort of rebates would apply.

To recap the key points of this home:

  • The homeowners now have a comfortable, quiet solution to cool their kitchen and bedroom.
  • The energy bills will go down because of energy- efficient technology.
  • No removal or replacement of equipment was necessary, other than the heavy, old window air conditioners!
  • $1,300 rebate was available to homeowners.

A Great Investment

This kind of installation is going to help this family with a few things. Their existing system is still used to heat, so this ductless AC and heat pump will only supplement their current HVAC system to make the house completely comfortable. No removal of an old system necessary.

This technology will also help save money on energy bills, being that it is an energy-efficient solution. The homeowner was also eligible for a $1,300 rebate!
