Winthrop Home Changes Window ACs for Mitsubishi Ductless

Scrozella HouseIn Winthrop, MA, the homes are often older and built without central air conditioning systems. The owners of this two-family home discovered that this was the case in their house when they bought it.

The home’s AC system consisted of window ACs that had been built into the wall. This was an inefficient way to cool the rooms and did not have the clean look the family was wanting. They knew that the house would require an HVAC update before they could rent it out to other families.

After some research, the owners contacted N.E.T.R., Inc.,.  Our five-star reviews and status as the #1 Elite Diamond Dealer for Mitsubishi Electric ductless ACs in Boston and the surrounding areas convinced these homeowners that we could find the right solution for their space.

The Problem: This multi-family home in Winthrop, MA, had no central AC. The previous owners had installed window AC units in the walls to try and cool the home, but it was expensive, inefficient, and ugly.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc., design a sleek, efficient ductless AC system using Mitsubishi ductless equipment. Now, the owners have clean, quiet, energy-efficient cooling relief.

The Design

Mitsubishi Ductless InstallationBefore the installation could begin, N.E.T.R., Inc.,’s project manager for this case met with the family to tour the home. It was clear that the two-family home could be air-conditioned with just two indoor units and a single outdoor condenser. This efficient design would save the owners money and give their tenants the cooling relief they need.

The Installation

N.E.T.R., Inc., set up a fresh concrete pad on the outside of the home where the new condenser unit was installed. This outdoor condenser was placed where it would be out of sight, but easy to access for maintenance and repairs.  Additionally, the outdoor unit was installed where each of the two indoor AC units could easily be piped to the same condenser to save the owners money.

Inside the home, N.E.T.R., Inc., removed the previously installed window ACs from the walls and installed the new Mitsubishi ductless ACs in locations that would provide the maximum airflow throughout the unit.  Each wall AC required only a small hole to be drilled behind it before mounting it to the wall; the hole allows a thing tubing to be run through the walls, like electrical wiring, until it reaches the outdoor condenser.  This tubing is used to pump the treated air from the condenser to the indoor units.

The Benefits

Mitsubishi DuctlessNow, the homeowners can get their unit ready for renters without worrying about the air conditioning system causing problems. Unlike window ACs, the Mitsubishi ductless units are whisper-quiet and take very little energy to power.

Additionally, the two indoor AC units operate independently from one another, so if one family likes to keep their home extra cool in the summer, it won’t affect the other unit.  Both ACs offer humidity control, as well, which will give the owners even more control over their comfort levels, and they can control the units from a remote instead of a central thermostat.

Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning systems are incredibly efficient, which is why so many homeowners are finding incredible savings month over month with their ductless system.  These owners are likely to see a massive change in their energy bills because window ACs are notorious for consuming a lot of energy while running.

The owners were even eligible for a Mass Save rebate of $592 just for upgrading their home to a more energy-efficient solution.
