Mitsubishi Ductless Heat Pump Installed in Belmont, MA Home

One of the most common problems homeowners face is uneven heating throughout the home.  For example, the family room might be toasty, but the bedrooms are too cold. The lack of balanced temperatures will cause folks to crank up the heat, making the comfy rooms stuffy and too warm in order to make the chilly rooms bearable.

It’s impossible to find a happy medium, and every time you turn up the heat, you are also increasing your energy bills. This family in Belmont, MA, was facing this exact problem, their Cape-style home had a second floor that just wasn’t getting the heat they needed.

Belmont, MA, home gets Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump.

Problem: The second floor of the home where the bedrooms and bathroom were stayed cold all winter. The heating unit for the main level worked well, but they needed to add an additional zone.

Solution: Installed a Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump unit with internal ducts on the second floor, due to the proximity of the rooms.

The problem this family was having was heating their second floor. This renovated cape-style home needed a unique solution, especially since the rooms on the second floor are so close together.

N.E.T.R., Inc. suggested the family install a Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating system, that could use a small bit of ductwork to ensure great airflow but also conceal the mechanical parts of the system.

The Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating system is incredibly flexible. While it is often thought of as a “ductless” system, in this case, we used the Mitsubishi ductless unit in conjunction with ductwork to give the family a perfect solution for their second-floor space. We put the mechanical part of the system in the attic, keeping it out of the way, while using a duct to bring the heat right to where it’s needed.

The flexibility of the Hyper-Heating system allows us to create custom solutions based on the individual needs of homeowners.  These heat pump systems can be used with or without ductwork when needed, like in this home, to enable maximum comfort given the proximity of the rooms.

Saving Money- Maximizing Rebates

N.E.T.R., Inc. worked with Sagewell Energy Analytics, which manages the Belmont Municipal lighting rebate program, to help get the homeowner a rebate of $850 on this Mitsubishi heat pump installation! Because this is energy efficient technology, there are rebates issued for systems like this because they are environmentally friendly. There are still rebates available, so if you are interested in this type of energy efficient equipment as well, be sure to ask your N.E.T.R., Inc. Mitsubishi specialist about what sort of rebates would apply.

So just to recap the key points of this home:

  • The homeowners now have a comfortable, quiet solution to heat their second floor.
  • No removal or replacement of equipment was necessary, and the new equipment was able to be installed out of the way. By using a Hyper-Heating heat pump model with ductwork, we were able to provide maximum comfort in a small footprint.
  • $850 rebate was available to the homeowners.

A Great Investment

This kind of installation is going to help our homeowners with a few things. They are still using their current system to heat, so this ductless heat pump installation will act as supplemental heating their current system. No removal of an old heating system is necessary.

This technology will also help save money on energy bills, being that it is an energy efficient solution. The homeowner was also eligible for a $850 rebate!
