Quincy, MA, replaces electric heat and window ACs with a ductless system. The owners of this Townhouse in Quincy, MA, loved their beautiful home. The brickwork and style was a unique design that they had fallen in love with from the beginning. However, keeping the house comfortable throughout the year was challenging. The family was experiencing high energy bills from their electric heating system. They knew that they needed a solution that would help to lower their costs.

Additionally, as with many homes in the area, this townhouse had no central AC system. Instead, the family was forced to resort to using window AC units throughout the home to stay cool in the summertime. The window ACs were noisy, cumbersome, and left hot and cold spots throughout the house. The family was not happy with the comfort that the window air conditioners provided, especially after receiving their energy bill. The window units were costing them a fortune and leaving them uncomfortable.

The homeowners knew that something had to change, so they began looking into both heating and AC alternatives. They interviewed plenty of contractors, trying to find a company with extensive experience with this home type. After meeting with ten different HVAC contractors in the area, the family finally called N.E.T.R., Inc.

The Design

After their extensive search for an experienced contractor, N.E.T.R., Inc. provided a design for this family that met all of their needs. The project manager for this installation proposed a single Mitsubishi ductless indoor AC with an outdoor condenser unit and heat pump. This design would provide a simple heating and air conditioning solution that would keep the family comfortable all year long and lower their energy bills.

This ductless system would be powerful enough to heat and cool their entire home efficiently, and keep costs low through the winter and summer.

Example of the ductless AC air handler installed in this Quincy, MA. The Installation

N.E.T.R., Inc.’s team got to work right away on installing the new system in this Quincy, MA, home. They first poured a concrete pad for the outdoor heat pump to sit on once it was installed. The Mitsubishi outdoor condenser for this ductless system was placed out of sight and easy to reach for repairs and maintenance.

Inside, the ductless AC unit was installed just above the front door. This placement would allow the Mitsubishi ductless unit to provide optimal distribution of the treated air. The team only had to drill a small hole into the wall behind it to install the unit. This hole allows a thin tubing to be snaked through the walled like electrical wiring. The tube is then connected to the outdoor condenser so that the treated air can be pumped indoors.

The Benefits

T Outdoor heat pump for Mitsubishi ductless heating and air conditioning system. he homeowners were able to immediately see a difference in their comfort levels after the Mitsubishi installation. The family will no longer have to talk over a window AC’s noise because the ductless air conditioner is whisper-quiet. The Mitsubishi ductless system is so quiet that we’ve even installed it in recording studios.

One of the best benefits to the ductless system is that it is so energy-efficient that the state even offers rebates for homeowners that install them. This family was able to qualify for a Mass Save rebate of $500 and a Mass CEC rebate of $1,650! That’s over $2,100 in total savings on the initial installation!

Additionally, the family will see a drastic drop in their energy bills, thanks to the Mitsubishi system’s efficiency. These units only take about the same energy as a light bulb to power, so the homeowners will be able to heat and cool their home all year long and rake in the savings!

Because the unit is controlled with a remote, it will be easy for the owners to make adjustments on extra cold days with just the touch of a button. The outdoor condenser works by taking the existing heat in the air outside and heating it with the refrigerant piping to provide perfect warmth on the coldest days.

Similarly, the system quickly switches to high-quality air conditioning in the summer, using the same energy-efficient technology. Now, the homeowners will enjoy the comfort of their beautiful home and save big all year long.
