9 Facts About Mitsubishi Hyper Heat

Heat pump technology has improved substantially over the years. A few decades ago, a heat pump could only efficiently heat your home if the outside temperature was above freezing. That is no longer the case — advanced hyper heat systems can efficiently heat your home even in sub-zero temperatures.

1. Discrete design

The number one reason that people opt for ceiling cassettes is their discrete design. They don’t take up any wall space. Instead, they discretely recess into your ceiling. Aside from the enhanced comfort, most people don’t even notice these units.

2. Heating and cooling capabilities

You can use a ductless ceiling cassette to add air conditioning to your home. This is ideal for people who don’t have ductwork and are tired of dealing with fans, window ACs, or other ineffective options. However, you can also add heating.

If you just want supplemental heat to back up your existing system, you can add controls that automatically switch between the heat pump and the furnace depending on the outdoor temperatures. Alternatively, you can invest in a hyper heat system. That allows the ceiling cassette to effectively heat your home at sub-zero temperatures.

3. Energy-efficient technology

Ceiling cassettes use electric-resistance heat pumps to cool and/or heat your home. This is more efficient than most traditional types of heating methods for numerous reasons. In particular, heat pumps move heat rather than generate it.

They also have inverters that gently adjust the settings of the fan in the compressor to keep your home at the desired temperature. This leads to consistent but low energy consumption. In contrast, most traditional HVAC equipment powers on and off repeatedly, driving up the amount of energy they consume.

4. Multiple zones

Each ceiling cassette is its own zone connected to its own thermostat. That means that you can adjust the settings based on how you use each room, and you don’t have to worry about unnecessarily heating or cooling spaces that don’t need it.

To give you an example, imagine that every bedroom in your home has its own ceiling cassette. A person who likes to sleep in a cold room can reduce the heat in their room, while a person who prefers a warm room can crank up the heat. In contrast, if you were using central heating, every room would have to be at the same temperature.

This compromises your comfort levels, and it also unnecessarily wastes heat on the person who prefers to be cold. If they crack a window to make up for the excess heat, you lose even more energy.

Of course, with zone technology, you can also make adjustments as needed based on the heat load of the room. The north-facing side of your home, for example, may need heat, but you may be able to turn off the units in the south-facing part of your home.

5. Multi-directional air vanes

One of the key advantages of ceiling vs. wall-mounted units is that ceiling cassettes offer multi-directional airflow. Rectangular units that fit between the joists can blow air in two directions while square units can blow air in four directions. This helps to keep your room at a consistent temperature, and it minimizes the risk of hot or cold spots.

6. Great for large rooms

The multi-directional air vanes make ceiling cassettes ideal for large rooms. These units come in a range of capacities that can accommodate rooms of varying sizes. That said, however, you should never select a unit based just on the size of your room.

Instead, you should work with a professional who can help you consider all of the elements that affect the heat load in your space. This includes ceiling height, sun exposure, insulation, and other factors.

7. Quiet

Ceiling cassettes are very quiet. You don’t have to worry about them disturbing your work or relaxation. Most ceiling cassettes are significantly quieter than the other appliances in your home, and even the outdoor compressors are only about as loud as a normal conversation.

If you decide to install ceiling cassettes with your mini split, you should expect to pay slightly more than you would for a wall or floor-mounted unit. This is because the equipment costs slightly more, and the installation process is a bit more involved. However, most people find that the benefits more than makeup for the cost difference.
